The Post-Truth Era Is About to Enter Its Post-Moral Phase.

In American politics, there no longer seems to be any intrinsic truth in any facts or statements. For some time now, there have been alternatives to any interpretation of anything, regardless of how factual those interpretations may be. That is what US Counselor to President Trump, Kellyann Conway first meant when, back on January 22nd, 2017, she said that there are “alternatives” to any fact you may present, which she called “Alternative Facts”.
The American Judicial System, allegedly one of the fairest, if imperfect, judicial systems in the world finds an indicted individual guilty of 34 felony counts, but millions of Americans take the side of the convicted felon when the latter says the whole trial was invalid because it was politically motivated.
Hundreds of individuals end up in jail after staging a violent attack on the US Capitol causing the death of a few people, but the President Elect says that such attack was “a day of love” and millions of Americans side with the President Elect. What you see is no longer what you get. What you get is what the most powerful people with the loudest megaphone tell you that you get.
Facts and truth don’t go hand in hand anymore. For millions of Americans, facts are only malleable, fluid factors that only hold water when the leader of their choice tells them that they do. The same goes for right and wrong, just as much as it goes for good and evil. No one can claim to be the ultimate authority to tell the one from the other.
In the mind of large masses, American judges no longer have the authority to determine who is guilty of a crime and who is not, and neither do American juries. And this is only the beginning. When criminals are given the power, even the presidency of the country, to rule over the rest of us, how can any of us expect them to respect the rule of law?
They’re unrepentant criminals, for heavens’ sake! How can we expect any honesty from proven, notorious dishonest people? And if those who voted for them don’t expect them to rule with honesty, why did they elect them? On an impromptu death wish? No doubt about it, up is down and wrong is right.
There are hardly any universal sources of truth anymore, and the voice of those sources of truth that still exist keeps drowning under the weight of the insidious ones. Sadly, the Internet turned out to be an unpredictable Pandora’s Box, rather than the source of harmony and understanding some of us thought it might have been.
And now, under the dark leadership of the United States (yes, the United States, our country), the whole world seems to be entering a post-moral phase. Criminals who attain the highest positions of power in a nation cannot be expected to rule with the good of the people in mind, particularly not those criminal leaders who haven’t even expressed any remorse or shame for the crimes they have committed.
Amoral leaders cannot be expected to suddenly become moral role models. And not even American medical science will be spared from the destructive onslaught of the post-moral forces as the Convicted Felon in Chief intends to put the leadership of the Health and Human Services department in the hands of a superstitious, conspiracy-theorist, ignorant madman named Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
This is no time for playing the Ostrich. No time to hide your head in the sand. Open your eyes wide and sharpen your ears well, for the post-truth era is now entering its post-moral phase and the consequences of it are as unpredictable as they are ominous. Brace for it.
