Steve Schmidt, the guy you will see talking in this video, is a reputable ex-Republican political strategist intially known for the work he did for George W. Bush’s and John McCain’s presidential campaigns, and for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Gubernatorial campaigns. While working for the public relations firm Edelman, Schmidt also functioned as advisor to Fortune 500 corporations.

In 2018, disappointed by the Republican Party’s open servitude to Trump, Schmidt quit the Republican Party and became a Democrat in 2020. Steve is one of the founders of the now somewhat-discredited anti-Trump organization named “The Lincoln Project” that was quite influential in orchestrating Trump’s defeat in his 2020 presidential bid.

Schmidt now has a podcast named “The Warning” that broadcasts almost specifically as a counterforce to the general perception that the American Press and the American Media in general have already begun to relinquish their journalistic, patriotic duty to speak truth to power. Capitulation under fear, that is the meek, submissive, open attitude that may define the MO the American Press is embracing.

That is what Steve Schmidt keeps telling us and that is also part of what I have been saying in these pages over the past few weeks and months. First, the Washington Post and the LA Times owners’ decision NOT to let their Editorial Boards endorse Kamala Harris’ candidacy can only be interpreted as extending a free pass to Donald Trump.

Then, there was the 180° turn taken by Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, the hosts of the popular left-leaning MSNBC cable talk-show “Morning Joe”. After spending months telling their audiences that Trump was a Fascist only comparable to Adolf Hitler, out of fear of retribution, Mika and Joe went to Mar a Lago to shamelessly kiss the ring and kowtow to newly-elected Donald Trump.

And note that these inauspicious things have happened BEFORE the Trump Administration has even assumed power, meaning that some American journalists are already folding even before the open season of intimidation has officially started. After January 20th, 2025, ALL American news outlets will be exposed to harassment from the part of the government if they don’t toe the official line and, ultimately, they will even risk having their licenses suspended or revoked if they don’t show enough fealty to Trump.

The same goes for any Colleges and Universities who refuse to implement the educational guidelines dictated by the incoming, Maga Department of Education. Either they comply or their grants, endowments, and research financing will be cut or suspended altogether.

And anyone expecting some dissension from anyone working in any capacity within the governmental bureaucracy should pinch themselves a few times in the hand to wake up, as none of that stands to happen anytime soon. Again, even before any official censoring starts taking place, they're already nipping employee-dissension in the bud by testing all job applicants for Trump loyalty with questions like what’s their opinion about the January 6 insurrection or whether they think Trump won or lost the 2020 elections (see here)

Just think about it for a moment, in the year 2024, to pass your first interview for a job in the United States government you’re not asked whether you're willing to swear to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, you’re asked to show fealty to the Führer, you’re asked to show submission to the will of the President of the United States.

A new era is about to descend on America and, unavoidably, on the rest of the world too. America the beautiful no longer seems willing to smile to the rest of the world and may instead start showing its fangs. The “benevolent hegemon” of the past 80 years seems to have developed a mean streak deep within its entrails and the consequences of that radical change of heart are as uncertain as they are ominous.

The First Amendment is an essential, vital addendum to the Constitution, one without which the American Democratic System doesn’t stand much of a chance to survive. Silencing the voices of dissent in any nation’s open popular dialogue is the initial, most critical step for first installing and then perpetuating dictatorships in power.

If the American Press fails to stand up against any future transgressions perpetrated by Donald Trump and his administration, if the whole American News industry abrogates its patriotic duty to speak truth to power, if the American News Media capitulates under Trump’s censoring intimidations, the Democratic Republic of the United States of America will fall.
