There were 72 clans affiliated with the name Chen during the Qin Dynasty, and they all contributed financially to the construction of the Chen Clan building so that their young ones could go live there while studying to prepare for the Guangdong Province examinations.

The building pictured below was finally established for that purpose in 1894. Later it would become the Chen Clan’s Industry College and later still it would house some Middle Schools.

Over one hundred years of existence haven’t robbed those premises of the folklore engraved on them and the impressive objects displayed there only ad to the beauty of it all.

Visiting the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum in the city of Guangzhou was a rewarding experience.
