Da-Nang is a seaside city located about 15 hours southeast of Hanoi by train. I stopped there for one day on my way back to Hanoi from Hoi Anh, where I had spent a couple of days. The beaches in Da-Nang are wide and nice to sit on for a beer with seafood.

Pictures Nos. 26 and 27 show a particular kind of bowl-like boat used by the Vietnamese fishermen.

Near Da-Nang is the Marble Temple, some sort of Buddhist sanctuary ensconced in a small rocky mountain nearby. Marble Mountain is a cluster of five mountains famous for the marble sculptures that the locals make there.

The mountains are interconnected by a network of tunnels which were used by the Vietnamese military during the Vietnam War.
